COMMON MISTAKES WITH EMAIL MARKETING

1 – Ignoring New Customers

Many companies make the mistake of not
acknowledging customers joining their database.
It is important to show appreciation for their interest
in your business by automatically sending them a
welcome communication upon sign up. This will not
only create a great first impression but will also
encourage customer loyalty.

2 –Treating all Customers the Same

Not all of your customers are the same; they have different interests, backgrounds and demographics. It is essential that as you build your database you also segment your contacts. This will allow you to pair up products/services with customers and create personalised content that customers want to read.

3 – Bad Subject Line

The subject line of an email is the most important part of any email campaign. It is the first thing your customers see and may be the difference between them opening or not opening the email. Use the subject line to communicate the main content of the email.

4 – Ineffective Branding

Enforce brand continuity through your email communications. Your customers should be able to identify instantly with your brand whether it be visually or through content. This will strengthen your brand, increase the level of trust and encourage customers to read the email.

5 – Lost Call to Actions

What do you want your customer to do? Make sure all call to actions are clearly defined in your email. Make it easy for the user to take the next step.

6 – Ignoring the Stats

Many businesses don’t use the information they have gained from past email campaigns. The statistics you gain can shape the content you produce, the way you write articles and even who, how and when you send to your customers.
